Sponge Bob: a Dry Sponge?

How can there be fire under water? My husband asks that every time he watches a Spongebob episode. It's true. Some of the scenes portrayed in the show are just bizarre.

Below is a link to an article about learning influences of some 4-year olds after watching Sponge Bob: Square Pants. I have always thought this cartoon was a little too "off" but am not an expert on these things.

Click here to read an article about the effects of Sponge Bob on young children.

My opinion - for what it's worth - is that Sponge Bob and cartoons like it set a possible precedent for fantasy gaming as kids get older. By no means am I saying that is true in every case, but I do believe it could happen to those children with a propensity to fantasy & escape & surrealism. Cartoons such as Spongebob (but certainly not ONLY this one cartoon) potentially feed the "frenzy".

What cartoons do you believe harm children? Help them?
