Fairs, Fairs, & More Fairs

It's that time of year. Nip of coolness in the air. Socks on the feet. Chicken & dumpling or chili on the stove. Green leaves burst into a rainbow of golds, reds, and oranges.

FALL! I'm all about the changing of seasons. It's one of the things in life that I choose to embrace. Instead of looking back on the warm days of summer and pining after them, I look forward to the unique autumnal blessings.

This link below is a great place to start in our trek through one of autumn's best offerings: a town, county or state fair. Warning: You will be hungry after viewing.

Top Ten Fair Foods (according to Huffington Post)

Below are some of my Facebook friends' favorite FAIR FOODS:

Elephant Ears
A good recipe HERE

Funnel Cake

A You Tube video about how to make a funnel cake HERE

Turkey Legs
You might not know that an average turkey leg is pegged well over 1000 calories! Read about more fair foods and how they fare...healthwise HERE. Or maybe just skip this link & be oblivious?

Bloomin' Onion
Outback Steakhouse isn't the only place to find this fried fantasy of taste, but I have to admit that I never even thought of them being offered as a fair food. Go figure. To me, a bloomin' onion shrouded with a tangy sauce can get no better! HERE are some sauce recipes.

Gyros Sandwiches
Interested in learning more about the Gyro - besides how to pronounce it properly? Read HERE

Fried Snicker Bars
There is something very carnal about this treat. Snickers are already loaded with delicious wickedness, but to add oil to the mix? Certainly "Thou shall not eat Fried Snicker Bars" is found in the Bible somewhere? Seriously, I've never tried one, but just might have to indulge one of these days. A how-to-fry-a-Snickers HERE

Candied Apples
A staple of fall. One of the scrumptious fall treats that are as beautiful as they are delish! Read HERE for some fascinating ways that fair vendors are kicking up the notch - so to speak! From fried Koolaid to deep fried bubble gum? I literally could go on and on........
