A Father Who Never Leaves

Just reading this story provokes several polarizing emotions in me. Anger, disbelief, immense sadness at the fear and nightmares this little boy may carry with him for a long time. (Click on link below to read full story)

Texas man abandons four year old son along dark road

Why do you think a father (or mother) could do this? Does this make people skeptical and less likely to accept that God "never leaves nor forsakes us"? Unfortunately, so much of our spiritual worldview comes from our society; our experience and knowledge of how people treat each other. This is probably one of the main reasons why this story disturbs me on a deeper level.

Psalm 16:10, For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.

Psalm 94:14, For the Lord will not cast off His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance.

I Samuel 12:22, For the Lord will not forsake his people, for his great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you a people for himself.

I Kings 8:57, The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers. May he not leave us or forsake us

Deuteronomy 31:6, Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
